Below finally gets a firm release date for PC and Xbox One, and it’s next week
Remember Below? We forgive you if you don’t. More than five years after its announcement, the roguelike action game is finally set to release next week.
Below was originally announced all the way back at E3 2013. That’s the last E3 before the Xbox One released! Since then, Capybara Games has pushed the game’s release date further and further until the company decided to stop talking about it entirely until it’s done. Now it appears to be done, or at least close to done, because the studio has announced the game’s release date.
Below will launch on 14th December for PC and Xbox One. Despite having being promoted so prominently by Microsoft, the game doesn’t appear to be under the Xbox Play Anywhere program, or have a Microsoft Store entry for Windows 10. PC players of the game will have to grab it off of Steam.
Here’s a new trailer to celebrate the release date:
And here’s what the game is about:
Test your adventurer mettle against The Isle’s procedural subterranean labyrinths. Explore a large, interconnected underworld crawling with cunning wildlife, deadly traps and stalked by a shadowy presence. Survive the perils of The Depths and unearth what lies below… or die trying..
BELOW is a procedural terrarium filled with life, mystery and death.
There’s a lot to do in the game, from scavenging and gathering materials to dodging traps to finding secret passageways. The depths of Below are randomly generated, so no two adventures will be the same. The game also features permanent death, so you have to be extra careful in your spelunking.
