Brief Battles is a platform fighter that’s all about the undies; coming in May
Brief Battles is butting into the arena fighter genre with a unique, underwear-fuelled take. It’s coming out to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in May.
Now here’s a game going straight for the unmentionables. Brief Battles is a platform fighter (think Super Smash Bros.) that is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on 7th May. The game is also planned for a Switch release sometime in 2019, but there’s no release date for it yet.
Apart from the wild, brawling action in a buttload of arenas, the game features challenges that can be completed solo or in co-op. Note that you will need a controller to play the game in multiplayer mode, but if you’re playing solo, a keyboard will suffice.
Have a look at the game’s release date trailer below:
The game features six ‘underwearriers’, each with distinct look and theme, such as Violet the Punk, Betty the Buccaneer, or Sparrow the Aviator.
You can further customise their looks with crossover skins that reference other famous indies. At launch, these will include:
- Yooka-Laylee Violet (Yooka-Laylee)
- CommanderVideo Chad (Bit.Trip.Runner)
- Machinarium Tubbins (Machinarium)
- Goo Kevin (World of Goo)
- Toto Sparrow Deluxe (Toto Temple Deluxe)
- Stumpy Kevin (Stumpt Gamers)
Note that these skins are free and available to all players. No pre-order or DLC gates to be found here. In fact, the developers promise that there will be no paid DLC in the game at all. That’s how you do it.
Brief Battles is being developed by Juicy Cupcake, which is based in Adelaide, Australia. The studio is composed of two members, Andrew Freeth and Tim Tily.
