Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice follows a Celtic warrior named Senua as she journeys into Hel (which is hell in Norse mythology), all to save the soul of her dead lover. Grim, skull-faced foes won’t be her only challenges, as Senua has to also contend with psychosis and trauma. The game is notable for having been developed in collaboration with neuroscientists and people suffering from psychosis, resulting in a very realistic depiction of mental illness.
The game was developed by British developer Ninja Theory, which has previously created such titles as Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Heavenly Sword and DmC: Devil May Cry. This is the studio’s first indie game.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice originally released on PC and PS4 in August last year. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game. Also check out the official website of the game here.
