Developed in Lithuania, Inmost is looking to be a strikingly gothic platformer with both action and puzzles. Here’s a look at Chucklefish’s latest.

British publisher Chucklefish has announced yet another game for its 2019 slate: Inmost, an action-puzzle platformer with a dark, moody art style. It’s also got the classic high-bit pixel art that Chucklefish is coming to be known for.

Have a look at the debut trailer for the game below:

And here’s what you can expect from the game, according to the publisher:

Inmost is an atmospheric, story-driven puzzle platformer, following three playable characters within one dark, interconnecting story. In an old abandoned castle, you’ll need to explore every nook and cranny, avoid detection, slice your way through enemies and spring deadly traps in order to escape the evil that lurks within…

  • A ghoulishly atmospheric, yet beautiful pixel art world
  • Three main characters, each with their own unique gameplay styles
  • One interweaving story, set across two worlds
  • Scale the environment by sneaking past enemies, luring them into deadly traps, solving puzzles and slicing down foes
  • Explore every inch of the world to find secret passages
  • Each pixel is placed with love!

Inmost is being developed by Hidden Layer Games in Vilnius, Lithuania. The development team is composed of Alexey Testov, who handles art and game design; Andriy Vinchkovski, who handles programming; and Alexey Nechaev, a freelancer who is responsible for the music.

Inmost does not currently have a firm release date, but it is expected to come out sometime next year. No platforms have been announced either, but knowing Chucklefish, it will almost certainly release on PC.

Check out Salt and Sanctuary for more action platforming, albeit in a more Dark Souls vein. If it’s stunning visuals you’re looking for, you probably won’t be disappointed by Sable, which was highlighted at E3 this year.
