My First Gamescom 2015
Some people warned me not to go there, as it is one of the most busiest consumer game fairs in the world. Well I though I go anyways. How bad can it really be? Right? In total, 345,000 visitors from 96 countries attended the world's largest event. So I an still recovering from it after almost a week. The other larger fair is the CeBit in Hannover, Germany with around 220,000 visitors for example.
All in all it was not that bad, at least not from Wednesday to Friday. I heard that the real s*@tstorm starts on the weekend.
Glad I dodged that 's*@ty' bullet this time. I only missed the Gamescom award 2015 though, which is a bit sad. Well next year.
The partner country of Gamescom 2015 was the United Kingdom (UK) this year. So loads of lads and Fish & Chips with Ale to expect, but got more German 'Bratwurst' and 'Pommes' (like Chips, or French Fries) and 'Kölsch' (local 0.2ml Beer) instead, which was quite nice as well!Next Level of Entertainment Under this year's motto, the Next Level of Entertainment I expected exactly, yes that! This year with Oculus, Sony Morpheus and others showing off what they got to the consumers, before it hits the shelf next year. I saw some familiar Steam faces from the last HTC Vive Game Jam in London, but the where fully booked in advanced. Interesting they did not showed anything to consumers, but more to partners and main stream press behind closed doors. So I don't expect consumer devices this year, but next as the others too. I heard they showed a DOTA2 version, so I am not sure how this should work with VR and the Lighthouse, so I can only guess... moving on until we know more for sure. Indies and the Indie Arena Booth And obviously there are tons of indies around from a lot of countries too. To many to name them all. You can apply at the website for next year. DieselStormers by Black Forest Games looks great. If you want Redbull's opinion on 'The best indie games of Gamescom 2015', have a look on their website. So you could see a lot of indie games. They had also some dedicated indie stand which showed some more indie titles. Retro Section The Retro section was huge! And they had amazing content there too! Really heard-warming stuff for people around my age. And I might have shed some tears of joy too. I just say Steal Battalion (Tekki) on the first Xbox and It Came from the Desert on Amiga 500! Yey! Cosplay Village What should I say, always nice to look at people who have dome some hard work on their costumes. And some cosplay selfy, why not...

Some AAA Games
I had the chance to play Star Wars Battlefront the Fighter Squadron Mode on Vulcan friendly Solus and it was quite something. Ok, I played a Tie-Fighter, but I still had quite some fun. It can be a bit disorienting at first with all those targets flying around you, but after following the target indicators to the closest targets, it is getting better. I like the fact that a voice is telling you if someone is behind you, so you can take evasive action. I really can't wait to play this title in later this year! I totally get why it won at the Gamescom awards.
Super Mario Maker from Nintendo looks promising as well. Maybe you can add your Flappy Bird to it? No? Seriously why not...
I saw a talented young man standing outside the entrance and making music with his ah ... Gameboy?!
Really cool stuff by TRONIMAL. Check out the 'Intergalactic Nomad' ! Nice chip tunes indeed!
Whats next in Cologne?
If you like CS aka Counter Strike you should visit between August 22nd and 23rd for the CS:GO.
It is the Counter Strike world championship.
