Wizard’s apprentice (and nephew) Eddie explores the depths of space in a dragon-powered tower. Discover and guide his strange adventures in My Uncle Merlin.

Space-faring light-hearted adventure game My Uncle Merlin has hit Kickstarter for funding. Along with the Kickstarter campaign, which can be found here, the game also has a free PC demo available that covers the complete first chapter.

We previously reported on My Uncle Merlin when it was announced, but new details have emerged from the Kickstarter page. But first, here’s what the game’s about in the first place.

In this quirky adventure game, you explore space with your uncle Merlin in a dragon-propelled wizard’s tower. As you travel about, you make new friends and you can invite them over into your tower. The choices you make will guide your story and affect the progression of chapters in the game’s 5-act story. Of course, some choices might be particularly unpalatable, such as feeding one of your guests to the dragon for a much-needed fuel boost. (In space no one can hear you scream… over the sound of scorching flames).

If things don’t seem to be going your way, you can use a checkpoint system (cleverly called the Checky Pointy amulet) to return to the beginning of the last conversation or the start of your chapter. However, the amulet has limited charges and if you deplete it, you’ll have to live with the mad wizardly choices you’ve made.

At present, the game is sitting at a little over 10% funded out of a $22,000 goal. There’s still 17 days to go for the campaign to end, though.

My Uncle Merlin is expected to be finished by July 2018, and will release only on PC for now. Steam has been confirmed as a distribution channel.
