From Spooky Squid Games, the creators of They Bleed Pixels, Russian Subway Dogs is a fast-paced arcade game inspired by the real-life stray dogs who ride the Moscow Metro.
The basic premise of the game is that, every morning, dozens of stray dogs make the commute by train from the Moscow suburbs to the downtown core in search of food and fortune.
Russian Subway Dogs is a good old fashioned retro 8-bit platformer which is fast paced with fun graphics. The makers have apparently done “extensive, totally legal research in order to fine-tune this chaotic simulation of what it’s like to scavenge for food from Russian commuters.” This would explain why some of the things that you have to avoid in your doggy hunt for food are volatile vodka, rival dogs, and the rare and dangerous Subway Bear!
A playable, super frantic, and fun game has already been made, but they are looking for more help and funding to make it even bigger and better.
Sometimes, and I know that I have said this before, but a game comes along that you just want to spend the night playing away on. And a game that looks this fun and fast paced is something that I think is worth backing. Some of the pledges that you partake in are Instant Alpha Access, a collection of pet themed pixel art prints suitable for framing, your own Russian Subway Dog plush sporting an adorable Ushanka hat, and many more. You can even get your four legged pet to appear as an unlockable playable character in the game.
Russian Subway Dogs will be available through Steam and itch.io upon release, and they are aiming to launch simultaneously on Windows and Mac, so get backing now…
