Yooka-Laylee to get a major update this month; changes detailed

Playtonic Games has unveiled the changes that will be coming to Yooka-Laylee later this month in the upcoming update. Plus, a look at the Switch version.

Yooka-Laylee may have released in April, but Playtonic Games has not abandoned the game just yet. They’ve been hard at work tinkering with the game, fixing the things that need fixing and enhancing the things that need enhancing. They’ve decided to put a lot of fixes and enhancements in the game’s next major patch, which is coming out later this month for PC (and even later for consoles).

Among the major additions to the game are enhancements that speedrunners will no doubt approve of, such as the ability to skip dialogue faster, the ability to bypass cutscenes and an option to turn off gibberish voices. There’s also a new camera mode that gives you complete control of where the camera is pointed. The game also has brand new pause menu music, which you can preview at the official blog post. The post also details all the improvements, changes, fixes and enhancements that will be included in the patch.

In addition, Playtonic shared the following image to show how far along the Switch version of the game has come.

Playtonic has promised that all the changes included in the upcoming update will be available in the Switch version on day one. As expected from the Switch, you’ll also be able to take Yooka-Laylee on the go with this version. Unfortunately, there’s still no release date for the Switch version just yet.

At present, Yooka-Laylee is available on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can get it from Steam, GOG.com, PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. The game was originally also supposed to release on the Wii U, but that version of the game was dropped in favour of a Switch version.
