If you’re going to San Francisco, then check out the Google Play Indie Games Festival!
An indie games event focused entirely around mobile games? Well, it’s ambitious, and it’s also kind of cool, and that is exactly what Google are doing with the Google Play Indie Games Festival.
In San Francisco (where else), this September 24th, Google’s putting on their Google Play Indie Games Festival, and they’ve just announced the 30 games that will be exhibiting at the event. These will include some recent releases such as Riptide GP: Renegade and Hovercraft: Takedown and VR games like SmashWars VR: Drone Racing.
A lot of indie gaming events treat mobile gaming as slightly inferior, and see them as just a low-level cash cow for developers such as King, the makers of Candy Crush, but mobile games have been majorly influential in the rise of independent game development.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend, being UK based and not having the time to be able to jet off to San Fran at the moment (or the money, ok, I admit it). But if you can get there, you should check it out. And, of course, we will be keeping an eye on things for some interesting developments, you can be sure of that.
