Dark Devotion is a side-scrolling action RPG coming out on PC this week

When it releases later this week, Dark Devotion will test your mettle (and your character’s faith) as you take down dark foes in a fallen temple.

Action RPG Dark Devotion finally has a release date, and it’s very soon indeed. You could be wandering the dark, decrepit halls of the game’s temple as soon as this Thursday, i.e. on 25th April. This release is exclusively for PC, across a variety of storefronts like Steam, GOG.com and Humble Bundle.

Dark Devotion is also planned to release on PS4 and Switch, but there’s no date set for those versions just yet.

Here’s a new trailer for the game, presenting an introduction and overview to the game:

Here’s what the game’s about, according to the publisher:

Dark Devotion features a richly detailed, immersive narrative that unfolds a sombre tale of your Templar religion’s irresistible calling. Every encounter challenges your fortitude, piety, and conviction as you move deeper into your cursed pilgrimage. Spanning four unique worlds, each with their own incredibly detailed environments, you’ll wield dozens of weapons in your quest to discover the Temple’s secret: all the while assailed by dark enemies and devious bosses whose core mission is to destroy your soul and damn you forever.

And the game certainly leans heavily into its action RPG chops:

Throughout Dark Devotion you’ll discover an array of weapons, armors, and relics with which to enhance your character. Each item has its own attributes and statistics, and is customizable with mystical runes.

Dark Devotion is being developed by French studio Hibernian Workshop. It is being published by also-French publisher The Arcade Crew, which has also signed on such titles as Kunai, Young Souls, and Blazing Chrome.

For more challenging actioneering, have a look at Foregone, which is inspired by the likes of Diablo and Dark Souls. If you’re more into the RPG aspect, consider Vambrace: Cold Soul.
