Post-Apocalyptic Survival MMORPG Edengrad Hits Kickstarter

Edengrad borrows from Mad Max and Fallout to create a post-apocalyptic world where you can craft everything from tools to towns.

Fallout 4 may have handed you the tools to create your own settlements, but Edengrad, from Polish developers Huckleberry Games goes one step further – it turns post-apocalyptic survival into an MMO. To survive in the hostile, barely habitable world of Edengrad, you must fight mutants, craft tools and use your skills to your advantage.

Edengrad’s apocalypse was caused by humans turning the world into a toxic wasteland, forcing them to either escape to space or hide in concrete shelters. A bio-active gas was released, turning parts of the world habitable while other parts became mutated. You play as a mercenary who finally leaves a shelter to explore the surface and eke out an existence, by whatever means you choose.

There’s a lot to do in the world of Edengrad, and their Kickstarter trailer below shows off chopping wood, building houses and towns, fighting mutants, even killing bears with axes. There’s even more to do, with 17 different abilities, each with its own independent skill tree. The game uses a Skyrim-like progression system, where the more you chop wood, the better you’ll get at chopping wood and so on. The developers also promise the game will have a realistic economy and of course, player vs. player combat.

Edengrad has been in development for 4 years now, and will enter Steam Early Access in September this year after a successful Greenlight campaign. Server infrastructure isn’t cheap, however, and the developers have turned to Kickstarter to fund just that. The crowdfunding will also pay for game updates and publicity. For the backer, this means getting the game on the cheap: you can get the game for as little as £5 (limited) or £7 and play it as soon as it hits Early Access.

Edengrad will be exclusive to the PC and will be available on Windows, Mac and Linux. For more information, check out the official website here.
