Shopkeeping meets action as Moonlighter gets a May release date

Prepare to slay monsters with a sword… and customers with your sweet deals. Moonlighter is hitting PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Switch and Xbox One next month.

Have you ever wanted to establish a corporate empire of lighting equipment sold for lunar colonies? That is precisely what Digital Sun’s Moonlighter is not about. Nope, this is a game about a humble shopkeeper with some not-so-humble aspirations.

By day, you’ll be managing your shop, hobnobbing with villagers, crafting and enchanting. You know, regular fantasy NPC stuff. By night, you will venture into dangerous places to slay monsters and grab loot. It’s a living.

According to the developer, Moonlighter will release on 29th May for PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Switch and Xbox One. The game will be available in both digital stores at $19.99 USD. A physical release has also been announced, which comprises of a standard edition and a limited Signature Edition. Here’s what the Signature Edition contains:

Containing a double-sided Medallion from the game, the Signature Edition also includes a glossy artwork poster and a squishy Jelly-Monster that you can repeatedly squeeze all while thinking about how to economically outsmart other merchants in the village of Rynoka.

There is currently no pricing information for the physical versions of the game, but Digital Sun has promised that it will come soon.

There’s also a new trailer to celebrate the release date announcement. Check it out below:

Moonlighter is being developed by Digital Sun, a worldwide team. This is their first project. The game is being published by Polish publisher 11 bit Studios.
