Unrailed enters Early Access on PC today; offers chaotic co-op multiplayer
Unrailed has you building a railway with friends (while a train comes dangerously close to running out of track). You can try it out today.
We don’t know a thing about building railways, so we’re just going to trust the Swiss devs at Indoor Astronaut when they tell us that it involves just picking up train tracks and placing them in front of a rolling train. Sounds plausible enough. You can live this totally-realistic experience in Unrailed, which is out today in Early Access form on Steam.
The game is strictly multiplayer for now, but you can play both with and against friends. Also, it looks and sounds thoroughly pretty. Have a look below:
Here’s how the game plays, according to the official blurb:
Gather resources and craft tracks to extend your railroad to prevent your train from reaching the end. But watch out – there is only one tool of each type. Co-operation and co-ordination of your team is essential to survive this increasingly challenging journey!
According to the developers, Unrailed is expected to stay in Early Access for 3-6 months. Right now, it’s fully playable and has even been demoed at shows across the world. Specifically, it’s got 5 biomes, 10 different wagon types, and “a multitude” of characters. It’s also got three game modes at the moment: Endless, Quick, and Versus.
With Early Access, Indoor Astronaut hopes to add more biomes to the game, as well as more characters, and a singleplayer mode. Of course, they’re also going to give it the ol’ spit and polish, although looking at the game as it is now, you wouldn’t think it needs any.
Unrailed is being published by Daedalic Entertainment globally, and by Bilibili in China.
