Vane to soar away from PS4 exclusivity and towards a Steam release soon

PS4 exclusive Vane, which released earlier this year, is making its way to PC via Steam. Here’s a look at the avian adventure from Friend & Foe Games.

Vane was one of the few indie PS4 exclusives when it launched in January this year. No more! The stark adventure will soon release on Steam, according to developer Friend & Foe Games.

Vane has no release date for its Steam release, but according to the announcement tweet by Friend & Foe Games, it will be “soon”. Only PC system requirements are listed, so it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing the game on Mac or Linux.

Here’s how the developer describes the game:

In a ruined desert, a strange golden dust transforms a free-spirited bird into a determined young child, setting off a chain of events that will reshape the world itself.

Set out on an exploratory quest, transforming between bird and child, using both perspectives to unravel the land’s mysteries and create a path forward through the barren landscape. As you do so, the world reacts to your passage, evolving and building into something altogether different.

Vane originally released on 15th January on PS4, where it was met with middling review scores. It has a 50 on OpenCritic, with only 10 percent of critics recommending the game. On MetaCritic, the game scores a little worse, at 49.

Developer Friend & Foe Games is based in Tokyo, Japan, but consists of members from Sweden, South America, and the USA. The studio is self-publishing Vane on Steam.
