Sunless Skies gets a launch trailer ahead of 31 January release
Sunless Skies will be out this Thursday, and it now has a launch trailer that involves a clockwork sun, an enormous beehive, and other godforsaken oddities.
Get aboard the train, we’re leaving for the High Wilderness! Sunless Skies is chugging along to launch very soon, and Failbetter Games has put together a launch trailer for those of you still clueless about this space locomotive simulator. Adjust your monocle, and then witness:
Sunless Skies is Failbetter Games’ follow-up to Sunless Sea, in which you controlled a steamship and explored the gothic speculative universe of Fallen London. Well, London’s not fallen anymore. In Sunless Skies, London has made it to the skies and expanded its reach across vast astral plains. And best of all, everyone’s going about in flying steam locomotives!
The game plays a lot like Sunless Sea, which means you spend most of your time exploring the world and interacting with the many stories that you’ll encounter (all written with a particular literary quality). It’s a bit of interactive fiction, a good bit of role-playing, and a structure of your classic space simulation games (such as trading and combat).
Sunless Skies is currently available in Early Access form, where it has been toiling away tirelessly since August 2017. It was originally scheduled for release last year, but got pushed to avoid conflicting with higher-profile releases. On release, the game will be available on PC, Mac, and Linux.
